What is bulimia?

Bulimia is a very serious eating disorder that involved binge eating followed by evacuating the food that they have just eaten in order to fulfil some sort of need/function. Bulimia is a very common eating disorder that can affect anyone at anytime, no matter of age or background. Bulimia is a very serious mental illness as your body struggles to react to the constant shifts in eating patterns that comes with bulimia. Many have lived for a long time with bulimia, although those that do don’t live a very long life due to the nutrients that are required in order to sustain a very healthy lifestyle.

Those that have bulimia describe the illness as a constant yearning to eat, despite having already ate in certain instances. We live in an age where image is everything which can weigh differently on the individual and the triggers for their specific illness. What is constant is that this is a very taxing illness that can cause severe discomfort, and should be treat with the utmost care.

When does bulimia become a mental health issue?

Bulimia is never not a mental health issue which is what some don’t fully understand. Bulimia can feel never-ending at times, striking when you least expect it and really opening you up to a variety of other mental illnesses. Depression and anxiety often aren’t far behind, as you never know when your next meal will be thrown back up without warning. This is not a healthy way to live and professional help should be sought after immediately.
