Self motivation is an example of mind over matter. Having self motivation is to live your life your way with no doubt whatsoever. With self motivation we learn to accept ourselves and our various abilities and skills, it also allows us the ability of foresight in earning more skills and abilities based on what we already know about ourselves. Not everyone will live with self motivation in their life. You could argue that we all possess some level of self confidence, depending on the individual that is. Without confidence in ourselves and our abilities, we are then open to stress and a feeling of anxiousness. Having a low self motivation is entirely dependant on the individual, the cause of which is obviously unknown for this reason.

Those with low self motivation will develop a sense of paranoia concerning how they are perceived by other members of society, especially if they are believed to be lazy. This can cause insecurity in appearance and overall demeanour. Having low self confidence is not necessarily a bad thing it just depends on how it is affecting you in your own life. However self motivation has been known to halt our progress in becoming the men and women we could and want to be.

When does having no self motivation become a mental health issue? 

You might know someone that has little faith in their own abilities, often makes fun at themselves as a front for a lack of overall motivation, and confidence by proxy. These are people who have a low level of self motivation. Those with introverted tendencies tend to have low levels of self motivation due to how they see themselves. Extroverts generally have a high level of self motivation. Our woes often reside deep within our subconscious which can make it rather difficult to overcome.
