Whether we all want to admit it or not, stress streamlines through a variety of different instances in ones own life. This is especially true in ones own work life. We like to believe we are all cool, calm and collected, but we will always have situations/scenarios that will build in tension especially if you work somewhere that commands you to be at your best all of the time. Stress is triggered through the a certain animosity with one’s self and something that is considered stressful. This could be something as simple as interacting with a colleague you don’t get along with, as well as a sense of frustration with something that takes people out of their element. Stress is a build up of different emotions that can be expressed in a variety of different ways; both external and internal. Some people out there will be able to micromanage their tension, thus flushing it out of their mind. Others will unfortunately struggle to find ways of cleansing tension, and might end up doing something irrational by proxy which might cost them their job.
Stress can be expressed in a plethora of different ways; we all operate differently which means we all build tension due to different things which can make it difficult to treat as a mass, instead one must come to terms with what they consider tension-building in order to live a more stress free existence. The types of responses you’ll find from people will stem from the person and how they respond to such information reaching a breaking point. Introverted people might choose to bottle stress within themselves, whereas extroverted people might choose a more aggressive/explosive course of action. Stress in the workplace can cause one to feel a variety of mental health issues.
When does stress become a mental health issue?
No matter what has caused this buildup of tension, those of an extroverted personality will often lash out during fits of rage and frustration. Anger is just one byproduct of frustration, the other main issue comes from anxiety in not performing to a certain standard. Someone who doesn’t deal well in social situations might find that they build tension within themselves out of frustration. In order to overcome tension one must understand why certain people/scenarios are annoying them. From there you can begin to deal with your issues head-on. This can be a difficult task, which is why it is important to seek help where you can.
